The Tavern quests in Idle Heroes are the best way to gain free resources daily, but the real benefit comes from the monthly rewards.
This makes optimal handling and refreshing your quests crucial, especially for low spenders.
We will cover what kind of rewards you can obtain as well as what quests should be replaced. You will also find out how to get a guaranteed 7-star quest if you are missing any for your monthly rewards.
A recent update revamped the tavern quests, adding tokens for each completed quest, which makes it a lot easier to complete the monthly objectives. The rewards were also improved, but doing so, the refresh prices were also increased from 10 gems to 20.
All tables and information below has been updated according to the revamped new tavern.
Tavern Quest Rewards and Odds
The most important thing you should know is what all the possible rewards are and approximately how difficult it will be to obtain each one of the different types of quests.
After you know what rewards are possible, you should move on and figure out which ones you should keep and which ones you should refresh.
This requires extra attention now that there are more different rewards split into Team- and Individual Quests.
NOTE: You receive one quest badge per completed quest. Those badges do not expire and can be used to complete the monthly challenge. I did not add them as separate rewards as they’re self explanatory.

Monthly Tavern Quest Rewards
These awesome rewards are the main reason we need to care about the tavern quests in the first place.
The rewards are awesome and with the additional Carnival card, become insanely valuable. It is great value for money so we highly recommend getting it.
If you don’t quite have the needed 7-star quest badges on the final day of the monthly challenge, check the last section of this guide on how to guarantee a 7-star quest from quest refreshes. It’s expensive but worth the rewards.
If you can’t get enough 5 or 6-star badges, it might be smarter to save up and do a full completion in the following month instead, for maximum rewards and take advantage of the Carnival card.

Which Tavern Quests Should I Refresh?
This is the most controversial topic when it comes to the Tavern in Idle Heroes.
There are tons of super complicated charts and tables out there, explaining what you should do, checking each quest separately and do complex comparisons to figure out if it’s worth it.
However, considering that we’re playing an idle game and the benefits from those complex methods are very marginal, we prefer to use generic guidelines that are fast, easy to remember and still effective enough.
This also depends on if you are completely free-to-play or if you get extra gems from the monthly cards.
Refreshing Team Quests
As a rule of thumb, you should NOT refresh Team Quests. This is purely because the rewards for those are not as great, since it is easy to get shards from the guild store and Adventure Mode, and equipment is easy to gain from various places as well.

Since a refresh for all quests costs 20 gems a pop, the odds of gaining a worthwhile upgrade in a team quest is very small.
The only reason you might want to refresh team quests is if you are a huge spender and need a lot of upgrade materials for Ormus Workshop to upgrade your artifacts.
Refreshing Individual Quests
Refreshing individual quests depends on if you are running low on specific materials as well as if you need more quest badges for the monthly challenges.
If you have a decent amount of extra gems, you should refresh mostly just certain 3 star quests that you might not need like 3-star hero shards, wishing coins and arena tickets.
Due to the removal of all 1- and 2-star quests, there are no ‘terrible’ rewards, so in most cases you would want to spend time refreshing quests only when you’re running low on higher tier quest badges.

Due to the increased cost of refreshing quests, it is debatable if free-to-play users should spend their precious gems refreshing quests other than for hunting the elusive monthly badges, as gems should be spent on cores of transcendence instead.
What about Basic Quest Scrolls and Senior Quest Scrolls?
These scrolls allow you to gain extra tavern quests for free.
The Basic Quest Scrolls can drop you a random 3 – 4 star quest, while the Senior Quest Scroll drops a 4 – 7 star quest.

You can only obtain these scrolls from the campaign auto-battle loot, so all you can do is wait and hope you receive a few eventually.
Now that you don’t need to save up quests as the badges that you don’t use for monthly quests carry over, there is no specific reason to save them up anymore.
They can be used on either type of quests, so we recommend using all of them on Individual Quests, unless you want some extra gems and artifact fragments from the Team Quests.
How to get a Guaranteed 7-Star Quest
If you happen to be missing one more 7-star quest badge to finish up your monthly tavern challenge, you might want to try out this method if you can afford it.
The tavern has a little known exploit where you receive a guaranteed 7-star scroll if you spend 3,000 gems in quest refreshes within one day.
Obviously you can still get one before the 3K gem limit which will reset the limit, but you are guaranteed to get one once you hit that limit.

You might think it’s sounds ridiculously expensive, but the rewards outweigh the cost and you might get the other high quality quests to use for future months on the way.
Finally, the monthly rewards, especially if you buy the Carnival Card (it’s the best investment in the game after Senior Monthly Cards), you will receive way more than 3K gems in value.
For most people, if you have the gems to spare and just need one more 7-star quest, it is well worth the price and in many cases you might get lucky and get the quest before you even hit the limit.
